This house was bought by Edward Somerset from Nicholas Boteler in 1612. His late son renovated the house according to his preference in 1620. He built a new T-shaped global range. Then this house was owned by the dukes of Beaufort, who with his family moved there from Raglan Castle. They moved because that castle was destroyed in the English Civil War.
